Description
To make our Old White Pineau des Charentes, we select different white Pineaux from our best previous vintages.
Pineau is aged in french oak casks. Over time, wood tannins are extracted, Pineau is slowly oxidised.
We clarify the Pineau and filter it before final bottling.
Copper-coloured, the scent has a slight note of rancio, with a touch of spices and tobacco. The taste is ample, with a final taste reminding gingerbread and honey. This Pineau is served at 10-12°C, and can be tasted with a cigar.
It can also be drunk cold (5-6°C), as an aperitif drink.
Many scent and tasting characteristics evoke typical Cognac flavours and odours, as well as vanilla aroma. It goes also very well with foie gras and strong cheeses like Roquefort cheese.
As an universal Pineau, it can be drunk at any occasion and is suitable for any moment of a meal : with starter dish, with a dessert or as a after-dinner liqueur.
